Cambridge Healthtech Institute is pleased to offer skill-based Training Seminars to Discovery on Target. Training Seminars offer in-depth training and instruction on a specific subject area that isn’t covered at this level during the main program, symposia or conference workshops.
Our Training Seminars offer real-life case studies, problems encountered and solutions applied, and extensive coverage of the basic science and academic theory and background. Each Training Seminar offers a mix of formal lectures, interactive discussions and activities to help attendees maximize their learning experiences. These immersive trainings are led by experienced instructors who will focus on content applicable to your current research and provide important guidance to those new to their fields.
TS1: MACHINE LEARNING FOR EFFECTIVE DRUG DISCOVERY DECISIONS
SEPTEMBER 26-27, 2018 | SHERATON BOSTON
Day 1 - Wednesday | September 26, 2018
About This Training Seminar:
This 1.5-day lecture-based seminar focuses on strategies to help biopharma organizations effectively utilize machine learning to better identify new potential drug candidates and develop them into effective, approved and reimbursed medicines more quickly. This potential cannot be unlocked without addressing key issues including data collection, management and integration of complex and disparate datasets, scalability, analysis and visualization tools, and machine learning algorithms in order to identify multiple drug targets (not just single drug targets) to work together as a network. This seminar will explore these issues and the role that a modern approach to this process can have on drug design to identify biomarkers and discover targets for potential therapies. Day 1 will cover H2O.ai Core, Open Source AI, R in Biology, and Machine Learning Algorithms. Day 2 will explore Introduction to NLP and Time-Series Data, Data Prep, and Demo and Discussion.

Instructor: Patrick Aboyoun, Customer Data Scientist, Training Business Development, H2O.ai
Patrick has made a career out of creating and delivering software and training for data scientists, particularly those who love R. He has worked on Oracle R Enterprise at Oracle, RevoScaleR at Revolution Analytics, Bioconductor at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, and S-PLUS at Insightful Corporation (now part of the Spotfire division of TIBCO). Just prior to joining H2O.ai, he spent a year at an e-commerce company where he used H2O to drive marketing decisions. Patrick received an M.S. in Statistics from the University of Washington and a B.S. in Statistics from Carnegie Mellon University.
Each CHI Training Seminar offers 1.5 Days of instruction with start and stop times for each day shown above and on the Event-at-a-Glance published in the onsite Program & Event Guide. Training Seminars will include morning and afternoon refreshment breaks, as applicable, and lunch will be provided to all registered attendees on the full day of the class.
Each person registered specifically for the Training Seminar will be provided with a hard copy handbook for the Seminar in which they are registered. A limited number of additional handbooks will be available for other delegates who wish to attend the Seminar, but after these have been distributed no additional books will be available.
Though CHI encourages track hopping between conference programs, we ask that Training Seminars not be disturbed once they have begun. In the interest of maintaining the highest quality learning environment for Training Seminar attendees, and because Seminars are conducted differently than conference programming, we ask that attendees commit to attending the entire program, and NOT engaging in track hopping, as to not disturb the hands-on style instruction being offered to the other participants.
